Wienux, RIP


It's rather sad, but one has to admit that it was most likely bound to happen: The effort of the city of Vienna to migrate to free software is a failure, despite the cool Wienux moniker.

Here is an interesting discussion of some of the possible reasons for this.

I read the analysis and they have a good point:

who in their sane mind would think that creating a new distribution would be a good IT solution to anything!

then again, that government previously decided that a website based on several IE plugins would be a good idea for a website for kids.
